Me and Tobii

Mom and Tobii

Today I am starting fresh because I am typing this blog post with my eyes. I never thought I would miss writing but I did. I guess I just wasn’t ready to give up sharing my stories. You all have given me a purpose and a reason to keep going even if I have to type with my eyes.

I can no longer use my arms and hands to type and my speech makes dictating to someone else difficult, so I had to find another way. This is how the Tobii Eye Gaze machine works. First you calibrate the machine with your eyes, then you pull up the keyboard and stare at a letter until it shows up on the screen. I’m not very graceful at it yet and still make a lot of mistakes but I’m sure it will get easier with some practice.

Thank you for inspiring me to keep going.

  1. Dear Rosemary, I have been thinking of you often. As you share so many of your thoughts and memories with us, I wanted to share this one with you. I first met you during the time Annette and Pat were married. Since that time I have seen you once or twice, most recently a few years back when I happened to be jogging near Lake Michigan and passed you and Mark walking. I stopped to say hello, which is funny because it’s not something I would normally do. Even with people I know well! I can only guess it’s because of the genuine way you care about people that it naturally draws them to you. It was only a 30 second moment, but it was one I won’t forget. You are an inspiration to the people you love, but also to the people you hardly know. Hugs.

  3. There are not enough words to express my feelings for how you are able to cope so well with your condition and continue on the way that you do. You have the strength far greater than anything I can imagine. I am so glad that I got to see you when you in Fla. this last winter, and am looking foreword to seeing you in Sept. when I come to Mich. God Bless.
